Pair Your Mobile Device with Account Manager (Two-Factor Authentication)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of protection beyond a single password. This extra protection can be knowledge (something you know), possession (something you have), or bio-metrics (something you are). By utilizing a second factor of identification, such as a mobile phone (something you have), the risk of account compromise is decreased.

By using the Salesforce Authenticator app, Account Manager utilizes the possession metric as the secondary form of authentication. Using the Salesforce Authenticator app, push notifications and verification codes for two-factor authentication are all supported. To complete the procedure below, install the Salesforce Authenticator app on your mobile device.

To pair a mobile device, perform the following steps:

  1. Log into Account Manager.
If you haven't successfully paired a mobile device with the Salesforce Authenticator app, Account Manager displays a CONNECT SALESFORCE AUTHENTICATOR page.
  2. Click REGISTER DEVICE.

Account Manager displays a PAIR A DEVICE page, prompting you to enter a pairing phrase generated with the Salesforce Authenticator app on your mobile device.

  3. To generate the pairing phrase, open the Salesforce Authenticator app on your mobile device and tap + New Account.

A pairing phrase is displayed in the Salesforce Authenticator app.

  4. On the PAIR A DEVICE page, enter the paring phrase and click CONNECT DEVICE.
A notification is pushed to your mobile device.
  5. In the Salesforce Authenticator app, accept the pairing notification.
If the pairing is successful, Account Manager displays the DEVICE PAIRING SUCCESSFUL page.
  6. Click OK.
Account Manager sends an authentication request to your mobile device, which you must accept to complete the login process.
