Reports and Dashboards

The Reports and Dashboards analytics tool enables you to make smarter business decisions based on your Commerce Cloud data. You can drill into insights on sales, products, and promotions to identify trends over time. You can filter the data by site, customer type and channel type; and specify a date range including a comparison date range.


When you compare date ranges, data only shows if there is data to compare. Otherwise, a section will be unavailable.

We have data from January 1, 2017.

You set up user access to Reports and Dashboards in Account Manager. See Reports and Dashboards: User Setup.

The portal shows three views of your data for a selected date range: Sales, Products, and Promotions. For the Sales view, the left pane shows the data in a graph, while the right panes show an abbreviated version of the same date range. Click a pane on the right to show information in the left pane.

Note: A small page view (such as with a tablet) shows the sections vertically.

The data is in both units (number or currency value, depending on the item) and percentage change.

Note: The user interface remembers what you did last.
Note: Click the download icon in the upper right corner of each section to download the data to a .csv file.

Launch Reports and Dashboards

  1. In Business Manager, navigate to Merchant Tools > Analytics > Reports and Dashboards.
  2. Click Sign In.
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. Click the Settings icon (shows if you have admin credentials) to manage users.
    1. On the Users page, click edit at the right of a User ID row.
    2. On the Edit User window, you can change the user's first and last names.
    3. Click Save.
    4. On the User page, click New to add a new user.
    5. On the Create New User window, add the user ID (email address), first name, and last name.
      This is the Account Manager login.
    6. Select the role: User or Customer Admin.
      The Customer Admin role has access to settings such as realm currency.
  5. If needed, you can change your realm currency setting so that aggregated realm data for all you sites shows in the selected currency.
    Note: Changing the currency setting is helpful when you want to view an aggregation, in a single currency, of site data with multiple currencies. Changing the currency setting only affects the aggregated view of your sites. Individual sites continue to use the site currency set for them.
    1. Click the Settings icon (shows if you have admin credentials).
    2. Click the Manage Realm tab.
    3. Click the Default currency dropdown an select your currency.
    4. Click Save.
      The page refreshes showing that the currency change is pending.
      Note: Pending currency changes require 24 hours to take affect.
    5. After 24 hours, return to the Manage Realm page to confirm the new setting and verify that there are no pending changes.
      The currency setting is now in effect, and all aggregated realm data for all your sites will show in the selected currency.
      Note: A realm currency change not only affects all data going forward, but it also converts all your old data to the new currency setting as well.
  6. Set the Time Zone. All data for the realm uses this setting.
    1. Click Settings.
    2. From the dropdown, select the desired time zone.
    3. Click Save.
      Note: It may take up to 24 hours for report data to be reprocessed.
  7. Select your analysis dates.
    1. Click the date button.
    2. Select a date range: Last 7 days, Last 30 days, last 90 days, or Custom range.
    3. If you select Custom range, click the date buttons and select the from and to dates.
    4. To configure the compare dates, click the Compare checkbox, click the date buttons, and select the from and to comparison dates.
    5. Click the close icon on a comparison date range to delete it.
  8. Search by product/promotion ID or name.
  9. Click Filter by to filter the data more selectively.
    1. Select one or more sites.
    2. Select a device: Web, Phone, Table. Selecting one or more of the filters, filters the data for the selected device type in all reports or dashboards.
    3. Select new or returning customers or both.
    4. Select registered or unregistered customers or both.
    5. Select a channel: Storefront or Endless Aisle.
    6. Filter data by locale. Click the select locales dropdown to display and select locales.
      • Enter a locale in the blank field to speed up your search.
      • Select multiple locales as needed.
    7. Click Clear All to clear your filter selections.
    8. Click Cancel to cancel the filter.
    9. Click Apply.
      Your selections display to the left of the Filter by dropdown. Click a filter's cancel icon to delete it. The report refreshes with the updated filter selections.
  10. Click the Reports & Dashboards breadcrumb at the top of the page to open the main page (if you aren't already there). We'll focus on this page for now.

    The following sections open.

    • Sales: A pane on the left shows a detailed graph. Click Revenue (might already be in the left pane), Number of Orders, Number of Units Sold, Average Order Value, or Units Per Transaction, on the right to show a graph of the respective data on the left.
    • Products: A grid showing the five top selling products, showing the data in units and revenue value( value and chart), with clickable product IDs.
    • Promotions: A grid showing the five most used promotions, showing the class, number of times used, and the discount value, with clickable promotion IDs.
  11. To review details for a specific top selling product, on the main page, click a product ID in the Products section.
    1. On the Product Detail page, in the top section, you can view product specific data, as follows:
      • Number of sites selling the product
      • Revenue: value and percentage
      • Number of orders: value and percentage
      • Average discount value
      • Units
      • Average unit price
    2. In the Most Often Purchased with section, click a product ID to see details on a product that is frequently purchased with the product under investigation. This grid shows the frequency percentage.
    3. In the Frequently Applied Promotions section, click a promotion ID to see details on that promotion.
    4. The Product Revenue section shows a graph of revenue by site for the date range.
    5. The Variation Products section list the variation products sole, by ID and their corresponding units and revenue.
  12. To review details for a specific most used promotion, on the main page, click a promotion ID in the Promotion section.
    1. On the promotion page, in the top section shows promotion specific data, as follows:
      • Promotion class: product, order, or shipping.
      • Sites giving the discount
      • Number of times the promotion was used during the date range
      • Number of orders that used the promotion during the date range
      • Number of units purchased using the promotion during the date range.
      • Average unit price when the promotion was used
      • The average discount per product
    2. In the Total Promotion Discount section shows the currency value total and average, and graphs the discount value by date.
    3. The Co-Frequency section shows other promotions, by class, that were used at the same time. Click a promotion ID in this section to see more details.
    4. The Revenue Impact section shows the total and average revenue as a direct result of the discount, and graphs the revenue impact for the date range.
    5. The Top Products Using the Promotion section lists just that, showing the units, revenue, and discounts for each product ID. Click a product ID to view its details.
    6. The Average Promotion Discount section shows the average promotion discount for the date range, and graphs it.
  13. Click the Sales section header or the breadcrumb drop down (Reports & Dashboards > Sales).
  14. Click the Products section header or the breadcrumb drop down (Reports & Dashboards > Products).
  15. Click the Promotions header or breadcrumb drop down (Reports & Dashboards > Promotions).
