Creating a Content Asset

You can create content assets that include text, images and links via URLs. You can also import content assets from external sources. See Content Asset Types.
  1. Select site > Merchant Tools > Content > Content Assets > New.

If you see unavailable fields, you have read-only permission. You can browse libraries, search for content assets, and read content asset data. But you can't modify data in these modules. If you have mixed permission to access one module (via different roles), the higher level access is granted. See your administrator if you require write access.

Due to the hierarchy of libraries, library folders, and content assets, roles with Read or Write access for libraries require the same access level for library folders and content assets.

  2. On the New Content Asset page, enter information about your content asset.
You can view your content asset in the source or HTML editor.
  3. Enter the content in the source editor in HTML format or use the HTML editor.
This is an example of the 404-banner content asset:

We’re Sorry...<br /> We seem to have misplaced this page result in an unfortunate error: (Page or File Not Found: 404 error), Feel free to use the search to assist you in finding what you were looking for.

When you insert an image into HTML text, the editor uses the width/height attribute of the image tag, for example:

    <p><img alt="" src="testimage 100x100.jpg?$staticlink$" style="width: 100px; height: 100px;" /></p>

When creating a "page" URL, enter the product SKU, category ID (of a category in the site catalog), or content asset ID (of an asset in the site library) respectively, and the system automatically generates the appropriate URL.
For keyword search URLs, when you enter a search phrase such as Denim Shirts, the editor inserts a link such as the following into the HTML: <a href="$url('Search-Show','q','Denim Shirts')$">Denim Shirts</a>
  4. Click the Folders tab to assign the content asset to one or more folders.

The folders that appear are already assigned to the content asset.

  5. Click New to assign the content asset to assign additional folders.
  6. Click the preview icon to preview the content asset in the storefront.
  7. Click the Page Meta Tag Rules tab if you want to create/manage page meta tags.
