Create and Manage Allocation Rule Sets

A user with administrative permissions can customize allocation rule sets to configure multiple rules based on preferences in order to route and allocate orders as well as order-level and order item-level attributes to a fulfillment site type, such as warehouse, distribution center, or store. This is done in the Administration module. To enable this functionality, contact Salesforce Support.

Note the following about configuring custom allocation rule sets:
  1. To create an allocation rule set:
    1. From Order Management Administration, select Settings > Allocations.
The Order Allocation Preferences page opens by default with the allocation rules in the Active rule set. The list selection box in the left panel contains the currently Active and Inactive allocation rule sets, if applicable.
    2. Click Create New to create a new rule without any rules (blank). A new rule set appears in the Inactive list.
    3. To rename, select the new rule set and click Rename. A popup opens to enable you to enter a different name and description for this rule set. Click Save to keep the changes; click Cancel to discard the changes.
The new rule set name appears in the left panel as well as at the top of the page along with the new description of the rule set. This rule set appears with the existing site ranking rules in its list.
    4. With the new rule set highlighted, select Expression Rule from the drop-down. The Expression Rule appears in the rule set ranking list.
    5. Use the drag and drop () icon to move and modify the rule ranking.
See Create and Manage Expression Rules to create and configure the expression rule.
  2. To clone an existing rule set:
    1. Click on an existing (Inactive) rule set and click Clone to make a new rule set with the same rules.
    2. To rename the cloned rule set, select the new rule set and click Rename. A popup opens to enable you to enter a different name and description for this rule set. Click Save to keep the changes; click Cancel to discard the changes.
The new rule set name appears in the left panel as well as at the top of the page along with a description of the rule set. This rule set appears with the site ranking rules that were cloned..
    3. With the new rule set highlighted, select Expression Rule from the drop-down. The Expression Rule appears in the rule set ranking list.
    4. Use the drag and drop () icon to move and modify the rule ranking.
See Create and Manage Expression Rules to create and configure the expression rule.
  3. To set a rule set as the Active rule set, click an Inactive rule set and then click Set as Active. When an Inactive rule is changed to the Active rule set, the previous Active rule set moves to the Inactive list, however, the rules remain in effect until any allocation job has processed completely.
