Attribute Configuration Details

When you have searched for an existing custom attribute or created a new custom attribute or attribute group, you can select the desired attribute or attribute group, and add or edit information or delete the custom attribute or group.

The following are the fields and buttons that appear in the attribute information and the Localization sections on the Attribute configuration details page.

Section Fields and buttons Description
  Delete button Deletes the attribute or attribute group. You are prompted to confirm the deletion of the attribute and its associated information. Click Yes to confirm the deletion or No to save the attribute.
Edit Legacy Attribute Information section Group drop-down (Optional) The empty list item is selected if not assigned to a group. A drop-down list to select the attribute group to which the attribute is assigned. Note that the empty list item is selected if not assigned to a group.
  ID (Optional) An identifier used to reference the attribute in code.
Note: This is required for use in templates or web service/ API calls.
  Label An identifier used to reference the attribute in the various UI pages.
  Short Label (Optional) An abbreviated identifier used to reference the attribute in the various Order Management user interface pages.
  Description (Optional) A detailed description of the attribute.
  Tag (Optional) An additional field that can be referenced in code as desired.
  Multiple Values checkbox (Optional) If checked, then the attribute can store multiple values. If not checked, then the attribute can only hold a single value. (Default: unchecked)
  Range Values checkbox (Optional) If checked, then the attribute can store a range of values. If not checked, then the attribute can only hold a single value. (Default: unchecked)
  Other checkbox (Optional) Only affects choice value attributes. If checked, then the attribute can hold a value other than the ones defined in its list of choice values. (Default: unchecked)
  Visible checkbox (Optional) If checked, then the attribute is visible on the user interface pages when viewing an object of an associated type. If unchecked, then it's hidden from the UI. (Default: checked)
  Searchable checkbox (Optional) If checked, then the attribute is searchable on the user interface pages. If unchecked, then it isn't searchable. (Default: unchecked)
  Publicly Visible checkbox (Optional) If checked, then the attribute can be made visible to customers when viewing an object of an associated type. If unchecked, then it's hidden from customers. (Default: unchecked)
  Publicly Searchable checkbox (Optional) If checked, then the attribute can be searched by customers. If unchecked, then it can't be searched by customers. (Default: unchecked)
  Publicly Editable checkbox (Optional) If checked, then the attribute can be edited by customers when viewing an object of an associated type. If unchecked, then it isn't editable by customers. (Default: unchecked)
  Configuration Type drop-down The base data type of the attribute's value. Options include:
  • String (default selection)
  • Numeric
  • Date
  • Attachment
  • Choice Value
  Configuration SubType drop-down The display format of the attribute's value. Only applies to String or Choice Value attributes.
  • String subtypes:
    • Single line Text
    • HTML
    • XML
  • Choice Value subtypes:
    • Drop-down list
    • Check buttons
    • Choice list
Note: If you select choice value, a choice value section appears on the bottom of the page. Here you can add or import (or delete) choice values. See Localizing Custom Attributes.
  Update button Updates the attribute information.
  Cancel button Discards the added/changed attribute information.
  Object drop-down (Optional) A drop-down list to select the object type to attach to an object type.
Note: You can create a custom attribute for a particular fulfillment site by associating the custom attribute to the Fulfillment Site Object type.
  Attach to Object button (Optional) Click Attach to Object to attach the attribute to the object type. The attached object type appears below the drop-down. You can attach the attribute to multiple object types. The attribute is available to be set on all objects of types to which it's attached.
  Object list A list of attached object types. You can delete the object type by clicking the Trash can icon ()
Localization section Localization Code drop-down (Optional) A drop-down list to select the language for localizing the attribute.
  Add button Adds the new language to the Localization listing.
  Locale listing A listing of the added languages for localizing the attribute. You can delete the language by clicking the trash can icon ()
  Language link When you click a language link, the Edit Attribute Localized detail page appears with the Label, Label Short, and Description fields so you can enter the localized text. See the descriptions of these fields earlier in this table.
Choice Values section    
  Add button Adds the new language to the localization listing.
  Choice Value listing A listing of the added choice values for localization. You can delete the Choice Value by clicking the trash can icon ().
  Choice Value link When you click a choice value link, such as Red, the Edit Value Information appears so you can enter the code, label, short label, description, tag, and order for the choice value. Click Update and the Edit Attribute Localized detail page opens with the label, label short, and description fields so you can enter the localized text.
