Order Management maintains detailed records of each item that you enter into the system. The Item details page contains all the relevant information regarding an item organized by section. From this page, you can manage the following item information. Each is described in the table below:
To access the Item details page, follow these steps:
See the following topics for details steps when creating and editing items:
The following table describes the components, fields, and buttons.
Components | Description |
---|---|
Approve button | If shown, approves when an item is created. An item appears as available for sale only after it has been approved. This is a one-step optional processes that is either enabled or disabled in Settings > Preferences > Inventory > Workflow. See Inventory - Workflow. If the setting isn't enabled, this approval step is skipped. |
Clone button | If shown, clones this item to create an additional item. This can be done when a new item is very similar to an existing item. See Creating Items by Cloning Existing Items. The new item created is an exact copy of the item in view, except that the item code has a leading "*" character. The item code might be edited. Cloning a master item also automatically clones all of the child items of that master item. Item cloning might also be done in the RAMP client. Cloning an item also copies over the item's images, attributes, categories, catalogs, special pricing and associations. Inventory isn't copied. |
Auction button | If shown, opens the Item Auction Information page so you can create an eBay auction. This button appears once an item is approved. See Auction Manager and eBay connector. |
Remove Item button | Removes the item record from live Inventory. You are prompted to confirm this operation. Removing an item does not delete the item record. Removing an item causes it to be unavailable for sale. |
Delete button | If shown, permanently deletes the item record. You are prompted to confirm this operation. An item must be unapproved before deleting the item record. See Searching for Items for details on resetting item's approval status. Deleting an item record is a permanent, irreversible action. If the item should be preserved, make the item inactive . See Suspending and Unsuspending Items. |

An item is automatically added to all parent categories of the subcategory. The first category listed on an item is considered the primary category for external connectors such as eBay. See Assigning Items to Catalogs. |
Inventory section | Updates the inventory of items and manages the status of
the items that make up your inventory on a daily or on-demand
basis. See Managing
Inventory of Individual Items in the Administration
Module. Note: On Hand inventory for an item at a
particular site can be either a positive or negative value. For
example, the OH inventory for a Solid Silk Tie could be -2.
However, the Available To Sell (ATS) calculation treats a
negative On Hand value as 0. Also considered are any of the sale
suppression options that could allow/restrict selling an item,
selling an item at a particular site, or selling any items at a
particular site.

included in group and kit items, respectively. Other
associations can be used by developers in customized business
rules and functions. Types of associations include:
|
Details section | Reviews or changes information that was initiated by
Order Management automatically based on workflow events or
through user interaction. The Details section provides useful
information.
