Localizations

Localization for Order Management must be configured and enabled in order to identify languages available for user interface pages, product descriptions, and client-facing information in multiple languages. Localizations are used to manage text and visual assets when doing business in multiple languages or regions. For example, if you sell products in English-speaking and French-speaking countries, you might set up English and French Localizations, with separate product descriptions and images associated with each one.

To create a localization grouping, follow these steps:

  1. In the Settings accordion menu, select Preferences.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. Click Localizations. The Localizations page appears.
  4. Enter a name in the text box and click Add. The new localization grouping label is added to the list.
    Note: A localization grouping can be deleted by clicking the Trash can icon (???).
  5. Click the link for the new label (the initial label is the name you entered). A form appears where you can edit its parameters:
    • Code
    • Visible checkbox
    • Label
    • Short Label
    • Description

    See the table below for descriptions of the fields and buttons.

  6. Select the individual Locales into that grouping from the drop-down list, and then click Add. The Locale label appears in the list at the bottom of the page.
  7. Click the Enabled checkbox to enable the localization groupings in the list.
  8. Click Update.

Example: You could create a Locale grouping, such as French, and then add individual Locales, such as French - Belgium, French - Canada, and French - France. Locales are used to present Objects associated with that Localization in the UI. See Configuring Localization for steps to create and manage Locale groupings.

Note: When the Locale groupings are created, you can use the available Locales in Customer Service Center (Locale drop-down list) when creating a customer order or when retrieving product descriptions from a merchant's catalog.

The following table describes the parameter fields and buttons on the Localization page.

Fields and Buttons Description
Locale grouping Text field to enter the desired name for the locale grouping.

For example, French.

Add button Adds the desired locale grouping or locale.
Enabled checkbox If selected, enables the use of Locale groupings and locales on the UI pages.
Visible checkbox If checked, then the ability to make the Locale groupings visible on the UI pages.
Code A code name to reflect the Locale grouping.

For example, FranceFR

Label (field and link) A name for the Locale grouping. For example, French (FR)
Short Label An abbreviated identifier used to reference the Locale grouping.

For example, French (FR)

Description Any appropriate descriptive information that adds value to the Locale grouping.
Locale drop-down A drop-down list of pre-defined in the system and represent specific languages and dialects used in the Order Management user interface.

For example, French-France

Update button Updates the system with the localization grouping and locale information.
Trash can icon (???) Deletes a localization grouping label from the list.
