Providers

Providers are configurable aspects of Order Management's workflow. These aspects include business rules, business processes, and business tools.

Providers, and thus business rules, operate in accordance with Order Management's item inheritance hierarchy. Inheritance is the automatic adoption of characteristics based on direct lineage.

Define Providers at the company, catalog, or site level in the Provider Manager. Define them at lower levels of the Item Inheritance hierarchy in the managers and user interface pages for the associated lower-level objects.

The following standard providers can be configured. Other providers can be available, depending on your specific implementation, such as the CyberSource Decision Manager's Kount Fraud Service. Provider settings are presented in the help as they appear in the user interface.

Note: The Customer Service, Retail Center, and Fulfillment Center providers are covered in the help topics for those Order Management modules. The Salesforce B2C Commerce Integration and Demandware providers are covered in the help topics for B2C Commerce integration.

Each provider offers several different settings, not all of which are visible by default. At the top of each provider is a list of all the available settings for that provider.

It's important to plan your provider configurations in detail. Be sure to understand all of the providers and their associated settings before implementing your system.

A custom profile lets you create a definition for a provider and then copy that definition to multiple versions of the provider. See Configuring Providers for steps to create a custom profile.

To add a setting to the provider’s visible form, follow these steps:

  1. In Order Management Administration: Settings > Providers. The Providers Manager page opens. You can define the providers at the company, catalog, or site level. Company level is the default. Based on the selected level, the link under the provider profiles changes to that level.
  2. Click the link for the company, catalog, or site level. The Object Configuration page appears.
  3. Select a custom profile from the list, if applicable.
  4. To add settings, select a setting from the list, and then click Add individual Setting. The setting appears on the Object Configuration page.
  5. Enter the values in the fields, checkboxes, or lists for each setting.
  6. You can hover over the help icon (???) for a definition of the setting. You can delete the setting by clicking the trash can icon (???).
Note: Read-only and required settings don't have a trash can icon.
  7. To save the changes, click Update. To close the page without saving, click Cancel. To clear all settings on the page, click Clear Configuration.
Note: Clearing the configuration doesn't affect any read-only or required settings.
