Mapping Order Management Categories to EBay Auction and Storefront Categories

In order for an Item in Order Management to be sold via auction on eBay, its category in Order Management must be mapped to an auction or storefront category in eBay. This is done by configuring a Provider setting at the Category or Item level. Best practice is to map the most specific subcategories possible, as this improves search results on the eBay website.

Note that when an Item belongs to multiple categories in Order Management, only the first category on the Item record is mapped to an eBay category when that Item is sold via auction. An eBay listing belongs to only one eBay category.

eBay auction categories must be mapped to an Order Management category by configuring a provider at the category level. To map a category this way, do the following:

  1. Select Categories from the Settings accordion menu to open the Category Manager.
  2. Browse to the desired category and select it, or search for it by entering a search term in the Category Name box and clicking Search.
  3. Click Provider Attributes to open the Provider window.
  4. Select Auction – eBay from the top drop-down list. This choice is only available if the eBay provider is installed and configured.
  5. Select Listing – Category Configuration from the Object Configuration drop-down list and click Add Individual Setting.
  6. Click Category 1 and select the eBay category to link to the selected Order Management Category. The eBay category must be an end node of the eBay category hierarchy (it can't have any subcategories of its own). If the desired eBay category isn't available, you must contact Support.

When mapping to an eBay storefront category, you can configure the Provider setting at the category level or at the Item level. Configuring the provider setting at the Item level overrides any category-level setting for that item’s category.

To map an Order Management category to an eBay storefront category, do the following:

  4. Click Provider Attributes to open the Provider window.
  5. Select Auction – eBay from the top drop-down list. This choice is only available if the eBay provider is installed and configured.
  6. Select Storefront – Category from the Object Configuration drop-down list and click Add Individual Setting.
  7. Enter the code for the desired eBay storefront category in the Storefront – Category field and click Update.
  8. Optionally, you can assign a second eBay storefront category to the Storefront - Category 2 setting by repeating the previous steps.
