Creating Campaigns and Promotions

Creating a complete marketing and promotional campaign might seem like a daunting task, but it need not be. Start by considering your overall goals and then define the tasks involved.
  1. Start by defining qualifiers: customer groups, source codes and coupon codes.
    1. Create or import customer groups.
    2. Create or import source codes.
    3. Create or import coupon codes.
  2. Create a Campaign. For example, you might want to create a Holiday2009_campaign.
    1. Specify the schedule.
    2. Enable the campaign.
  3. Create Promotions to target specific customers, such as the following.
    1. Create a promotion targeting customers who have purchased from you for more than a year or spent more than $1000. (customer group).
    2. Create a promotion targeting customers who have come from affiliate sites (source codes).
    3. Create a promotion for customers who have been targeted via an email campaign (coupon codes).
  4. Create Content Slots to target specific customers, such as the following.
    1. Create a content slot for the landing page that targets top buyers.
    2. Create a content slot that targets male buyers.
    3. Create a content slot that targets new buyers.
  5. Add experiences: In Business Manager, select site > Merchant Tools > Online Marketing > Campaigns > campaign | New > Experiences tab.
  6. Click Add Experience to add a new experience.
    • Click Add Promotion to assign a promotion.
    • Click Add Slot Configuration to assign a slot configuration.
    • Click Add Sorting Rule to assign a sorting rule.
  7. For each experience, perform the following:
    • For promotions: Modify the schedule and assign customer groups, source codes, coupons, and rank.
    • For slot configurations: Modify the schedule and assign customer groups and rank.
    • For sorting rules: Assign one or more categories.
  8. Create and Run A/B Tests to determine the effectivity of promotions, content slots, and sorting rules as they relate to your overall marketing goals.
  9. Test your new campaigns and promotions on the storefront.
