Using the Site Preview Tool

The site preview tool is used to view the storefront as it appears on a different date. This lets you inspect content slots and other page components in your storefront that depend on the site time, source code, or customer group of the customer using the site.

You can also use the Site Preview tool to preview an A/B test on a storefront by entering the A/B test and A/B test segment values. When an A/B test Segment is being previewed, the promotions, discounts, slots and sorting rules related to that A/B test segment will be enabled, regardless of the time for which the A/B test is scheduled.

  1. Select the site to view and click Storefront. A new tab appears in your browser over the storefront.
  2. Navigate to the page that you want to inspect.
  3. Click the down arrow for the icon in the upper left corner of the storefront. The storefront toolkit menu appears.
  4. Select Site Preview. The Site Preview Tool opens.
  5. For Date, enter a date or use the control to select a date. For example: 02/02/2012
  6. For Time, enter a time. For example: 05:00 AM
  7. If appropriate, enter a source code or customer group.

This is the source code or customer groups you want to inspect for the storefront session. This enables you to see how the storefront appears to different customers, depending on the link they clicked to reach it. You can select one or more customer group.

You can select multiple customer groups by holding Command (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) down and selecting them. However, you can't select both Registered and Unregistered at the same time because a customer can't be both.

  8. If you are previewing an A/B test:
    1. Enter the name of the A/B test.
    2. Enter the name of the A/B test segment (you must enter both names)
    3. Enter a date that falls in the schedule of the A/B test being previewed. If you don't enter a date, Salesforce B2C Commerce will use the test's effective date. If the test is inactive (not during the current timeframe), an error will appear.
  9. Click OK. If the site preview is successful, the browser tab now shows the new date and time:
    • For a source code or customer group preview, the storefront shows content slots, prices, and other data used for the specified time.
    • For an A/B test preview, the promotions, discounts, slots and sorting rules related to the A/B test segment will be enabled, regardless of the time for which the A/B test was scheduled.
