Exclude Specific Category Names from Indexing - Legacy

As of the 19.1 release, using the Search Dictionaries Dashboard is the preferred method. This legacy method may still be functional, but will be phased out in future releases.

1. Select site > Merchant Tools > Search > Category Name Exclusions.
   A message appears on this page indicating if the site is configured for regional locales to inherit the linguistic rules defined for their language locale. You can change the setting on the Search Preferences page.
2. Set the Locale field to the merchant country location, or to the language locale if Dictionary Locale Fallback is enabled.
3. Ensure that the category name was not already added by entering the name in the Keyword field and clicking Find.
4. In the New Group field, enter the name of the category to exclude.
   It isn't necessary to surround a phrase in quotes. Multiple category names must be separated by commas. For example, Kitchen & Bath, Watches and Jewelry, Headphones & Earbuds.
5. Click Apply.
6. Select site > Merchant Tools > Search > Search Indexes.
7. Select the Product Index, and click Rebuild.
