Object Manager

The Object Manager can be used to configure, store, and manage order data in the form of objects. An object is a data record in the Order Management database. There are a number of standard type of order records such as, catalog, category, customer, item, order, payment. See Order Management Objects for details on the types of objects, and Attributes or Tags that are associated with one or more particular object types.

In addition to the set of default data fields assigned to each object type, you can define custom Attribute and Tag fields, which can be used as filters and search criteria. Attributes represent variables, while tags represent constants. Each Attribute or Tag is associated with one or more particular object types. You can design custom attributes and tags as appropriate for your business needs.

To modify or view objects, follow these steps:

1. In the Settings accordion menu, select Objects. The Object Manager page opens.
2. In the Overview section, select the object type from the list. The page refreshes with the attributes, tags, or configuration that are associated with that object. See Object Configuration Table.
3. Create attribute groups, if desired, to organize your attributes. attribute groups are simply a convenience and have no other function in the system. See Attribute Manager for details. Modify attributes as follows:
   • Key: Uses a key attribute to identify and browse product variations
   • Required: Adds the attribute to an item type
   • Autocreate: Automatically adds the attribute each time an item type is created
   • Directional Position: Moves the ranking position of an attribute within the list of attributes or within an attribute group
   • Delete: Deletes an attribute (within an attribute group if applicable)
   • Click on the attribute's link. The Edit Legacy Attribute Information page opens.
4. For custom tags (searchable field on an object), you can add, edit, or delete a tag. Click Update to accept the changes or click Cancel to discard the changes.
   Note: The Object Manager enables you to create tags for any object type. However, some object types, such as orders, don't expose tags.
5. For configuration, you can edit or delete the direct links to the provider configuration for that object.

The following table describes the fields and buttons when viewing or modifying objects:

Fields and Buttons	Description
Object drop-down	Lists the object types.
Attribute section	Consists of the attributes (and attribute groups, if applicable) that have been associated to that object.
Key icon () ()	Assigns the attribute as a key attribute.Click on the Key icon () to allow for identifying and browsing production variables. Or click the greyed key icon () to disable that function. Note: If you disable a key from an attribute group, it moves to the [Ungrouped] attribute group.
Required icon () ()	Add the attribute to an item type or disable that function.
Autocreate icon () ( ):	Automatically add the attribute each time an item type is created. Or click the greyed-out autocreate icons ( ) to disable that function.
Directional icons	Move the attribute to a higher position in the order of attributes or move the attribute to a lower position in the order of attributes .
Trash can icon ()	Delete an attribute, custom tag, or configuration flag.
Attribute link	Open and edit the fields on the Edit Legacy Attribute Information page.
Edit link	Edit/update the custom tag fields including label, short label, code, and description fields. The label and short label fields appears in the UI search forms and Object detail pages.
Update link	Save the changes to the custom uag fields.
Cancel link	Discard the changes to the custom tag fields.
Add button	Add a new custom tag for the object. New appears in the Code field, and New Item appears in the Description field. Click the Edit link to change those fields and populate the label and short label fields.
