Configure Category Position

You can use the category position attribute as a sorting rule if you want to place specific products in a particular order for a specific category. This is typically used to place items at the beginning of the search results for a category page to promote them.

Note: Category Position should not be the only sorting attribute in a Keyword Sorting Rule because it is missing category context and are skipped in searches. If no other sorting attribute is defined, sorting falls back to Text Relevance.

In addition to selecting the Category Position standard attribute for your sorting rule, you must also configure the category position for the products.

Select site > Merchant Tools > Products and Catalogs > Catalogs > catalog > category .
On the Catalog Assignment page in the Categories section, continue selecting categories until you find the category that contains the products you want to place.
Select the products to place and click Sort.
Enter the desired position in the position field, or control the position of the product by using the up and down arrows, and click Apply.
Categories are similarly sortable.
