Creating Items by Importing Item Records

Item records can be imported via the Job system or using the Quick Import tool.

Importing Item Records Using the Job System

To import Item records using the Job system, set up an Import – Data job as described in Managing Jobs in the Administration Module. Load the file containing your import data in the Data Source tab.

Importing Item Records Using the Quick Import Tool

Follow these steps to import Item records using the Quick Import Tool:

  1. In the Utilities accordion menu, select Quick Import.
  2. Select the Item Data tab at the top of the page.
  3. Set the fields that are included in the import data. The first field of each record must be the Item Code. Use the drop-down lists to set each subsequent field.
  4. Uncheck the Updates Only box unless you are importing data for existing records and only want to import data that has changed.
  5. Paste the import data into the text field.
  6. Click Import.
