Using the Page Information Tool

Use the Page Information tool to identify products or content that you want to edit in Business Manager. Depending on the rendering templates you are using, you might or might not be able to follow the links provided by this tool to edit the content directly. However, the links always direct you to the content slot in which the content is configured.
  1. Select the site to view and click Storefront. A new tab appears in your browser showing the storefront.
  2. Navigate to the page that you want to inspect.
  3. Click the down arrow for the icon in the upper left corner of the storefront. The Storefront Toolkit menu opens.
  4. Select Page Information.
  5. Hover over different parts of the storefront and the page component is outlined and a yellow popup appears that contains a hierarchical list of the template types (content slot, decorator, local include, remote include) and templates used to render that page component. Each template type with a greater number (#) signs calls the template type with one less number of (#) signs.
    For example:

In this example, the outlined area of the page is described by the information in the yellow popup. This section of the page is rendered by the categoryproducthits.isml template in the SiteGenesis Storefront Core cartridge. This template was included in the browsertoolscheck.isml, which was included in the productsearchbreadcrumbs.isml template and so on. For styling information, look at the decorator template, product pt_productsearchresult.isml.

For additional information, see Page Information Tool.

  6. You can click the links in the popup to edit the templates to link to. However, to edit the templates you must have the cartridge for the storefront in Studio.
If you want to be able to examine the SiteGenesis application, use Studio to create a new storefront cartridge and give it the name that appears in parentheses in the popup. In the example above, this is the sitegenesis_storefront_core cartridge.
