Configuring a Catalog Feed for Commerce Cloud Einstein

Important: This configuration option has been removed from the Business Manager Menu. We recommend that you use the Einstein Self Service Deployment tool to configure order feeds, select Administration > Operations > Einstein Deployment Dashboard. If you need access to the old feed configuration option, contact your Salesforce B2C Commerce support representative.

Before you can use product recommendations, you must first configure a catalog feed for Commerce Cloud Einstein. Data about products in the product catalog is transmitted via this feed. This feed exports important properties about your product catalog to Commerce Cloud Einstein. This information is used to train the predictive machine learning models used to generate recommendations; this information is also fed into the Configurator tool, which enables you to configure business rules that fine-tune how the system generates recommendations.

When you configure this feed, you control how often catalog data is exported. Because export jobs can impact the performance of your Production instances, you want to run this feed as infrequently as possible, but often enough to ensure that Commerce Cloud Einstein has fresh data. If your catalog changes infrequently, then you do not have to run this feed often; but if your catalog is updated frequently, then you should run this feed more often. Several iterations might be needed to determine the optimal frequency.

Important: You should only configure this catalog feed on Production instances.
  1. To configure a catalog feed, select Administration > Operations > Einstein Deployment Dashboard > site.
  2. On the Deployment Configuration section, select a Region.
    This step only has to be performed once per site. This setting specifies a region corresponding to your primary business geography, which determines where predictive data is physically stored and processed.
  3. In the Feeds section, click Catalog Feed Schedule.
  4. On the CQuotient Feed Schedule page, in the Export Parameters section, specify values for the following fields:
    • Host: Specify the host name of your site.
    • Image View Type: Select the image view type you want exported for the recommended products. Only one view type can be selected. Default view types are: hi-res, large, medium, small, and swatch. However, you can configure other view types.
    • Include Out of Stock Products: Select False (the default) to indicate that you want to exclude out of stock products. Select True to indicate otherwise.
    • Include Variation Group Option: Select True to include groups in the generated product feed. Select False to indicate otherwise.
      Note: This doesn't enable recommendations at the variation group level in Commerce Cloud Einstein Product Recommendations.
    • Multi-locale/Multi-Currency: Select True (the default) to indicate that your site is a multi-locale, multi-currency site. Select False to indicate otherwise.
    • Color Attribute: Specify the product variation slicing attribute (typically color) for recommended products.
  5. In the Job Schedule section, specify values for the following fields:
    • From: Specify the date on which you want to start running the job that exports data to Commerce Cloud Einstein.
    • At: Specify the time of the day when you want to start running the job.
    • Every: Specify a number (default is 60) and select a unit of time (Days, Weeks, Months) to define how often you want the job to be run. For example, if you specify 10 Days, the job is run once every 10 days.
  6. Select the Enable checkbox to enable the job schedule.
  7. Click Apply to save your changes.
  8. Optionally click Run Now to immediately run the export job.
